The Director of Days Gone Clarifies Sales Comments: PlayStation Exclusive Days Gone fans have been on an emotional rollercoaster since the game’s debut.

Despite what appeared to be initial popularity, game director Jeff Ross later confirmed. Sony had not approved the sequel because the game was not performing as well as it should.

In the last week, what was believed to be new details regarding Days Gone were made public.

Ross said Days Gone likely sold more or less than Ghost of Tsushima‘s 8 million copies.

However, he’s now saying that the numbers might not be accurate.

Ross recently conducted an interview with the former game director and controversial character. David Jaffe in which he addressed the subject of Days Gone‘s sales.

Ross stated that the Days Gone‘s sales came via PlayStation Trophy data pulled from the data-scraping website Gatestat.

    Gates is a data-scraping website.

However, this isn’t an official source nor reliable for this type of information.

Ross previously announced that they claimed that Days Gone could have sold up to 10 million copies.

According to Ross, this number would not have been enough to convince Sony to allow the possibility of a Days Gone sequel.

Ghost of Tsushima believes in having another sequel developed in the end, but it only sold eight million copies.

If Ross’ figures are not accurate or based on inaccurate data, this reduces the likelihood that his argument is convincing.

In the end, sales might be or might not have been the main reason for the decision to create a Days Gone sequel.

The response to The open-world game of zombies was not tremendous and earned a Metacritic score of 71% instead of Ghost from Tsushima‘s 83 percent.

When making an expansion, the players need to be enthusiastic about the game because it is, after all.

The situation is understandably painful to Ross and the other developers who work at Sony Bend Studio, who have put their lives into Days Gone for several years.

Ross has even quit Sony Bend Studio in 2019, following the publication of Days Gone; however, Ross hasn’t revealed the reasons for his departure.

The year before, Ross told fans to be optimistic because the possibility of a day’s Gone sequel was still possible shortly.

This may be becoming more and more unlikely in the current climate. As many odd debates continue to develop around the game.

At the very least, Sony Bend Studio should be able to learn from the lessons learned from Days Gone and create a new project much more enjoyable.

Days Gone is now available via PC as well as PS4.
