Battlefield 2042 has nearly twice as many players at launch as Battlefield 5.
In the run-up to Battlefield 2042’s launch, the game was billed as the culmination of everything the franchise had been good at for years, and as such, fans were obviously excited about its potential.
The shooter’s launch, sadly, has been quite bumpy, and players have voiced their dislike for him out loud. Still, the game seems to be doing well when it comes to the number of players.
In a upgrade detailing upcoming fixes and patches for Battlefield 2042, DICE said that the game has already accumulated “millions” of players since its launch a few days ago (although, of course, it was also available in early access for a few days before its official launch).
DICE also confirms that Battlefield 2042 has nearly twice as many players at launch as the previous game in the series, Battlefield 5, did.
DICE has started its journey towards recovering from its most recent release and given the developer’s plans for the game as a live service platform for at least the next few years.
Hopefully, they can turn things around. and take it to the level that fans of the series expected. If that doesn’t happen, the game’s performance could quickly decline from its strong start.
Battlefield 2042 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X / S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
